How Today's Energy Works

Your daily transits, translated for your business.

The short version

Every time you open Empire, it calculates exactly where all the planets are in the sky right now, maps that to your Human Design gates, compares it against your natal chart, and translates the result into a plain-language reading that says:

"Today is a good day for [X]. Here's what to work on. Here's what content will land."

It's real astrology + real Human Design, computed fresh, woven into your coaching and content creation.

Where you see it

1. The sidebar panel — "✦ TODAY'S A GOOD DAY FOR"
Look on the left side of Empire. You'll see a card that reads something like:

*Today's a good day for: Finishing what you started, honest conversations**The Last Quarter moon is asking you to clean up loose ends before you push forward. With Jupiter squaring your natal Rising, you might feel pulled to expand too fast — instead, spend today tightening what already works.*Content angle: Share a hard truth about something you've been quietly tolerating in your business.

2. Your coaching greeting
When you start a new Coaching Session, your AI business coach leads with today's energy: "Hey 👋 Today's a good day for finishing what you started. The Last Quarter moon is pulling you toward cleanup rather than launches…"

3. Your content greeting
When you open the Content tab, Paragraph 1 tells you what kind of content will land best today.

4. In every coaching and content conversation
The AI references today's transits naturally throughout your chat — "Since Jupiter's squaring your Rising right now, this angle might land differently…" It uses them as creative suggestions, not rigid rules. If you ask for something specific, you still get exactly what you asked for.

5. In your 30-day content calendar
When you ask the AI to build a content calendar, it knows which day is best for launches (New Moon), releases (Full Moon), editing (Waning moon), and which HD Sun gate theme each day falls under.

What gets calculated

Every refresh, Empire computes:

• Personality side (your conscious activations right now): Sun, Earth, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron, North Node, South Node — each mapped to their HD Gate and Line
• Design side (your unconscious activations, 88° of solar arc earlier — the same calculation your natal Design uses): all 13 again
• Moon phase + illumination percentage
• Personal aspects — every transit planet vs every planet in YOUR natal chart. We track conjunctions, oppositions, squares, trines, and sextiles with tight orbs so only meaningful transits show up
• EXACT aspects (orb under 1°) are highlighted — these are the transits that are "alive in the room" today
• The 4 major angles — your Rising (AC) and Midheaven (MC). Aspects to your Descendant and IC are mathematically included since they're 180° from AC and MC

What "today is a good day for" actually means

The reading is generated by AI that's been instructed to think like a smart friend who just checked the sky — Co-Star meets The Pattern. It:

• Reads your moon phase (sets the pacing)
• Reads your HD Sun gate (sets the theme)
• Reads which transits are exactly hitting your natal chart (sets the personal flavor)
• Notes if Mercury is retrograde (flips to "review/revise" energy)

Then it writes a short, specific reading: what to DO today, not woo-woo generalities.

If the AI reading can't be generated (rare — API issue, timeout), Empire falls back to a rule-based reading so you still see something useful. Moon phases map to themes like:

• New Moon → Planting seeds, bold starts, launches
• Full Moon → Visibility, releases, sharing what's ripe
• Last Quarter → Finishing, editing, honest conversations
• Waning Crescent → Resting, reflecting, quiet strategy

How often it updates

• Every 60 minutes automatically while you have Empire open
• When you reload the page or switch back to the tab after being away
• The underlying calculation refreshes every hour on our server

Why an hour? Because the Moon is the fastest-moving factor and only crosses a new HD line every ~1.7 hours. Sun gate changes every 5–6 days. Outer planets move less than a degree per week. An hourly refresh catches everything that matters without burning compute.
If you want to force a fresh refresh right now: hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+F5 on Windows).

What changes and when

What this isn't

It's not a daily generic horoscope. It's calculated specifically from YOUR birth chart — no two users see the same reading.
It's not forecasting. Today's reading is about today. Empire doesn't predict next week.
It's not strict rules. The content angle is a suggestion. If you need to write a sales page today and the moon says "rest," you still get the sales page — but the AI might weave in a subtle "honesty lands today" angle if it fits.
It's not a replacement for your authority. Your HD authority always leads. The transits are context, not commands.

Where the math comes from

Empire uses Swiss Ephemeris — the same astronomical engine that powers astro.com and most professional astrology software. Every planet position is calculated to sub-arcminute precision.
For HD, the gate wheel is the standard Jovian Archive mandala, calibrated against an authoritative HD calendar (Sun gate transitions verified across every month of the year).
Verified against MyBodyGraph (Jovian Archive's own tool): 26 out of 26 gates matched on two independent dates — every planet, every gate, every line, Personality and Design side.

 Ask the Coach Tab Anything About Your Transits

The Coaching Suite has access to everything your Today's Energy panel shows — plus the full depth of your natal chart, Blueprint, Brand Profile, and coaching memory. That means you can go as deep as you want into any transit that's hitting you.
Try asking things like:

• "What does this Jupiter square my Rising actually mean for my business right now?"
• "I've got Uranus on my Venus — is this a good time to change my pricing?"
• "How do I use today's Last Quarter Moon energy for my launch?"
• "Explain my Design Sun gate and how it's different from my Personality Sun."

A tip from Karla: Use the coach tab when you want depth, strategy, and personalised meaning. Use the content tab when you want to turn that energy into hooks, captions, emails, or a content calendar. Both tabs see your transits — they just use them for different things.

Who gets this feature

Unlimited and Founding members see the full Today's Energy panel with live readings woven into their coaching and content.
Lite members see a locked version with a note about what they're missing. Upgrading unlocks it immediately.

Troubleshooting

"Reading the sky for you..." stuck on the sidebar?
This means the AI reading is still loading or a cache refresh is in progress. It should resolve within 30 seconds. If it persists, hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R / Ctrl+Shift+F5).

Sidebar showing yesterday's energy?
Same — hard-refresh to trigger a fresh calculation.

Aspects or gates look wrong?
The most likely cause is that your birth details are wrong in your profile. Use the Edit button on the sidebar to check them. The confirmation dialog shows exactly what will be used before you submit.

Hover the "ⓘ Today's Chart details" text at the bottom of the Today's Energy panel — it expands into the full breakdown for anyone who reads astrology/HD fluently.
